Justice Jane Nenninger Bland

Justice Bland is a sitting justice on one of the two state courts of appeals in Houston, and participated in
one 2006 supreme court case by assignment. Two regular justices were recused. Judge Jane Bland

Justice Bland was appointed to a vacancy on the First Court of Appeals in Houston . She previously
served as a district court judge of the 281th District in the old Civil Court House in Houston. All civil district
courts and county civil courts at law have since moved to the new Harris County Civil Courthouse. Judge
Bland's former bench is now held by the Honorable David Bernal, one of few Hispanic judges in Houston.
