In 2008 Judge Criss was a Democratic primary candidate for position 8 on the Texas
Supreme Court, held by
Phil Johnson. Criss narrowly lost to Linda R. Yanez, a sitting
appellate court judge. Republican Incumbent Phil Johnson won in the General Election and
thus secured another 6-year term.
